Apocalypse is a Greek word that means revealed or uncovered. Scripturally speaking, it refers to the Revelation of John, which is the concluding book in the New Testament. John saw many things that would take place in the days, months, and years preceding the second coming of Jesus Christ, and including what would happen at the second coming of Jesus Christ. What can we expect from the apocalypse, and beyond?
The ultimate authority on the Apocalypse is the Holy Scriptures themselves. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have 4 canonized works of scripture. They include The Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. We also believe in continuing revelation, which means that God continues to reveal His mind and will to prophets today.
I am going to recommend a book that was written by a man who was a member of my church. His book contains his own opinions and is not an official work of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I read this book as a supplement to my scriptural readings. While I do not take this book as official doctrine, I do appreciate it as a way to open my mind to potential occurrences during the apocalypse. This book focuses on what will happen here, in America. Much of its ideas are scriptural in nature. I enjoyed it and recommend it to those who want a fresh perspective on what America can expect from the apocalypse and beyond into the years afterward.
Following is a quote about the author and this work.
Dr. W. Cleon Skousen spent the majority of his life researching the gospel, the U.S. Constitution, the founding of America and writing numerous books and articles on the topic. He is also one of the most well-known, respected defenders of America and the gospel the world has ever known. At the time of his passing in 2006, his work was not yet finished. His book The Cleansing of America, written in 1994 and given into the care and keeping of his sons, is now being brought forth for the first time ever.
Included in these pages are the events and stages the Lord has predicted, through his servants, the winding-up scenes of this world. It helps the reader understand: the nature of prophecy, the known chronology of prophetic events, and the importance of staying close to the Lord and his prophets during the difficult and challenging years prior to the Second Coming. We are fast approaching those prophetic events. Some are upon us even now.
If we are prepared and obedient, we need not fear these events, but rather embrace them for the blessings they portend.
My purpose in recommending this book is to help those who read it get a sense of the urgent need to become self-reliant and to prepare for forthcoming events. You can learn more about the book by clicking below.
